Carpet Feather Blending & Color Correction

Through a process called feather blending, we blend one side of a seam with a color problem in an attempt to match them and remove the abrupt change in color. We’ve developed new methods and techniques to improve upon this, resulting in quicker and more successful repairs.

Feather Blending is an on site process designed to correct color sidematch issues in both residential and commercial carpeting. For a variety of reasons carpet will sometimes change color from side to side or from end to end. If the carpet is a different color, hue, or intensity then it is a problem. These problems can often be corrected using feather blending. The color is adjusted to the dark side – carpet can only be made darker, so the work begins on the light side. We work from the seam out, gradually changing the color to take away the abrupt difference.

Feather blending can also be used to correct minor texture variations, and tufting bands. We have been doing feather blending for about 12 years. It is a proven process and permanent. This is a mill guaranteed repair. It does not affect the warranty on the carpet.

Feather blending keeps the carpet on the floor and creates far less disruption to the consumer. It should not be used in regard to dye lot variance. Although some can be fixed, we do not recommend ordering your carpet in different dye lots, counting on feather blending to make them appear to be one. The dyes and chemicals are very safe in our system and is virtually odor free.

Only nylon and wool can be blended at this time. Polyesters and olefin cannot be blended. Below are before and after pictures of a feather blending, color correction.
